Dear Visitor,

Following the Extraordinary General Meeting that took place on February 4, 2026, I am sad to announce that we are now in the process of winding up our EMDR Regional Group. We needed a minimum of two Co-Chairs and one Treasurer Elect, as well as one or two new Committee members. Anthea Hollingworth kindly offered to be nominated as one of the Co-Chairs, but with the other openings unfilled – and a couple of other Committee members likely to resign over the next year – it is necessary to bring EMDR South Central to a close.

Over the next month or so, we will take down the EMDR South Central website, delete our distribution list with your contact details, and remove reference to EMDR South Central from the EMDR Association UK’s Regional Group webpage.

On behalf of the EMDR South Central Committee, I would like to thank you for your support in attending the EMDR CPD events that we organised and offered between March 2020 and October 2025. Many of you were regulars at our events at The Spire in Poole, and it was always a pleasure meeting with you in-person.

I would like to thank the EMDR South Central Committee members for so generously giving of their time, for their enthusiasm and help: Kim Hamilton, Nicola Coulter, Rachel Abraham, Leigh Brown, Jeanie Ellis, Julianne Fetherstonhaugh, Anthea Hollingworth and Claire Mason.

Additionally, we are grateful to Colin Matthews for kindly volunteering his expertise in creating and managing our website. Louise Carter has also been invaluable in taking care of numerous communications and administrative tasks.

With best wishes to all of you

Deborah Fish

What is EMDR ?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an integrative psychological therapy. It is recommended as a treatment of choice for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder by the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and the World Health Organisation (WHO). There is also a growing body of evidence for its effectiveness in overcoming other difficulties such as anxiety disorders which have their origins in trauma or adverse life events.

EMDR UK
